The Story of our restaurant

Dusters - The Early Days

Dusters Restaurant, located in historic downtown Columbus, occupies a building with a rich past. The restaurant's location once housed Gottberg Auto Company, a car dealer dating back to the 1800s.

Established in 1995, Dusters Restaurant pays homage to the early days of automobiles, particularly the era of open-air driving, when individuals wore protective Dusters coats, reminiscent of the period with the Ford Model A. The restaurant's name is a nod to this bygone era, where patrons can savor a delightful meal in an ambiance that reflects the spirit of the early 1900s.

Dusters - Today

The main dining area at Dusters Restaurant boasts an open-air kitchen. It showcases a captivating mural that chronicles 200 years of Platte County history, from the time of horses and trains to the dawn of the automobile.

Whether you dine in the main dining area or the cozy fireside room, you can expect a casual and inviting dining experience any day of the week.

Gottberg Auto Company, which occupied this location, celebrated its 25th anniversary in 1932 and was among the oldest Ford dealerships in the nation at that time. The business continued to thrive until Mr. Gottberg's passing in 1944, leaving behind a legacy intertwined with the history of the automobile industry.

Dusters Restaurant embraces Nebraska's rich agricultural heritage through its distinctive design, featuring bar stools crafted from tractor seats and a ceiling adorned with a grain bin motif.

Whether it's lunch or dinner, you can enjoy many items from our menus in the main dining areas while relishing our selection of hand-crafted brews and sodas. Our doors are open 6 days a week, ensuring you can almost always find a place at our table.
